Pertussis vaccine: what's important to know?

Vaccination is the best way to prevent pertussis. Generally, there are two groups of pertussis vaccines: whole cell and acellular vaccines. There are great differences in quality within each vaccine group, concerning their reactogenicity and efficacy. The recent knowledge and statement by the World Health Organisation experts on the pertussis vaccine protection are reviewed.
