Avulsion fractures around the pelvis and hip in adolescents

Injuries around the pelvis and hip represent acute or chronic stress on bony and soft tissue structures. They occur less commonly then other lower extremity injuries. Apophyseal avulsion fractures are similar in nature to physeal fractures, and occur most commonly in adolescence, especially during sporting activity. Accurate diagnosis and treatment depend on a proper understanding of the mechanism, clinical presentation and natural history.
